NCoE-DG 2007 Full Fellowship 1st Call: Award Announcement
The NCoE-DG is pleased to introduce the two outstanding recipients of its 2007 Postdoctoral and PhD Full Fellowship award: Ramunas Jokubka (Ph.D.) and Tiina Kuusinen (M.Sc.). Each is awarded for a two-year period.

After rigorous review, the two applications are recommended by the Evaluation Committee and later approved by the NCoEDG Steering Board for the solid evidence of their scientific excellence as well as the great potential for bringing considerable added value through Nordic collaboration and Nordic competence building.

Dr. Ramunas Dr. Ramunas Jokubka received his PhD degree in the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Lithuanian Veterinary Academy, Kaunas, Lithuanian.
Since 2005, he is a Lecturer in Biochemistry and Food Chemistry, Department of Biological Chemistry, Lithuanian Veterinary Academy.
Dr. Jokubka will join Prof. Holger Luthman's team in Lund and work on the research project 'Isolation of the gene regulating insulin secretion in the Niddm1i4-locus in the GK-rat by functional genomic- and physiological-analysis'.

Area of Expertise: cell biology, chemistry, biochemistry, animal breeding and genetics in mammals.












Ms.Kuusinen Ms. Tiina Kuusinen is currently a PhD student in Åbo Akademi University, Turku, Finland.
With the current fellowship award, she will continue her PhD training in Lund supervised by Prof. Rikard Holmdahl (PI of NCoEDG) and co-supervised by Profs. Sirpa Jalkanen and Marko Salmi in Turku.
Her research project 'The role of the positional cloned Ncf1 gene: Impact of oxidation on antigen presentation function of macrophages' will be enriched by the collaboration between Lund and Turku.
